Our Programs

Our staff believes Children with special needs are children first and that their job is to learn through play. At BEEM we recognize that children learn in different ways and that they learn best in their natural environments through everyday routines and experiences.

Children Birth-3 Years Old:

Specialized instruction (SI) or Community Based Rehabilitative Services (CBRS) is developmental intervention uniquely designed to enhance cognitive, physical, behavioral, self-help, social-emotional, and language skills. This rehabilitative therapy for infants and toddlers is “play with a purpose.” CBRS is one service available to support children and families from birth to age three who have been determined eligible by the Children’s Developmental Services Agency (CDSA) for the North Carolina Infant Toddler Program.

Children 3-5: Pre-K Readiness Intervention

If your child needs continued support after turning age 3, this is an intervention service designed to encompass 5 learning domains (whole motor, cognitive, behavioral, social-emotional and self-help). These are areas that Pre-K classrooms focus on and through this intervention it is our agencies goal to help parents and children who may need extra assistance prepare for their child’s kindergarten year. This service begins with a free observation session and discussion with family of the needs they and their child may have; as well as developmental survey performed with the child to assess the child’s strengths and weakness based on criteria addressing developmental milestones. This survey will be used to determine areas of development that need to be addressed. Our staff will discuss with families the results and if services need to be considered. The family and our staff will meet again to develop a plan of action for the family and child. Our staff will provide services for families on an adjustable fee rate.

Childcare Center Services:

Our staff will provide classroom assistance with behavior modifications, intervention strategies for center play, transitions and group time based on the premise of inclusion during classroom routines. These services will be provided on a short or long term 1-2 hour visit weekly. This service will be provided to childcare facilities for an adjusted fee rate to the childcare facility.

Individual Inclusive Instruction:

If a child needs assistance in their childcare classroom with behavior plans, play strategies, or transitions. Families may contract with us for services in the child’s home or classroom environments. These services would be provided at an adjustable fee rate to families.
